A review in Sunset Magazine described the motel rooms best, "the rooms are not big or fancy but comfortable" and then they praised the more than compensating spectacular ocean views. This Hotel of the Ragged Point Inn and Resort on the rugged Pacific Coast Highway 1 between San Simeon Ca, Big Sur Calif, San Francisco and Los Angeles offers 39 cliff top hotel rooms with rugged Pacific Coast Ocean Views. The Ragged Pointe Inn ocean view motel is one of the finest hotels near Hearst Castle San Simeon California.
Most hotel rooms at the resort are located on the cliff's edge, 350 feet above a beautiful private cove. The cliff top hotel rooms at the Ragged Point Inn Hotel truly have one of the most striking rugged calif coast views near San Simeon and they make the most of these views from all of the hotel rooms by having glass walls and balconies or patios for each room. Visitors Travel Tip: the second story hotel rooms not only offer a balcony and the best rugged ca coast ocean views but the most privacy; you can leave the curtains open and run around the motel room naked or whatever you want. This amazing cliff top resort is at the very beginning of the fabulous rugged Big Sur Coast yet near San Simeon's amazing Hearst Castle. |
"The location is spectacular, on the cliff side, with an uninterrupted view of the Pacific Ocean, and along the rugged coast in both directions...The location is not far from Hearst Castle and is close to the elephant seal vista, which was a great stop... There are lots of places to stay on Highway 1; Ragged Point Inn is worth a visit.

" The AMBIENCE is second to none and therapeutic for the soul. There are many benches and chairs scattered throughout the property that invite you to sit, share a drink, enjoy each other's company and conversation, as you watch the scenery. Our room was clean and very comfortable- private balcony, gas fireplace, whirlpool bath tub, and comfortable furniture... If you are looking for a beautiful, special place to get yourself together; to catch your breath; to share a romantic adventure with someone; to marvel at the rugged coastline, then Ragged Point is the place."

"We asked to look at a room before we checked in (we find it is always best to try an do this if you have just turned up and don't know what the place is like). The rooms were very nice, especially the fire place as it was a chilly night, and the view was fantastic. We had a luxury room ..."
"The Ragged Point Inn is inside the Big Sur coastline, and only 15 minutes north of the Castle. Thus, it is the BEST place to stay while viewing the Big Sur Coastline, AND, visiting the Castle. As California residents we have visited the Castle and the Big Sur coastline for over 40 years. We didn't find the Ragged Point Inn until 5 years ago, and have now stayed there, sometimes with friends and family, five different times. The new rooms on the point are our favorites, with fireplaces, balconies, jacuzzi tubs, and huge view windows, but all of the rooms look out at the beautiful ocean view."

"The Ragged Point Inn is a wonderful, special place. It is a very clean, comfortable, peaceful place to relax and is well worth the trip from any destination. Keep the place in perspective. Rooms in San Simeon and Cambria are probably less expensive, rooms further north on Hwy 1 are probably more expensive. If you want a hotel where you want to continue your rat race...The Ragged Point Inn is located in South Big Sur; on top of stunning cliffs, overlooking spectacular views of the coast line; the grounds are immaculate and beautiful as any fine park; there is a rickety trail to a private rugged beach; wildlife abounds, whether watching the falcons circle from the cliffs, otters in the ocean, seals barking in the coves, various birds everywhere; and if you catch the right time of year, whales and calves off the point..." |
